Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway

Guided tours are available which highlight the marriage of Elvis and Priscilla, named by People magazine as one of the eight great romances of the century. A docent will explain the memorabilia and comment on the many stories about them, including the fact that Lisa Marie was born exactly nine months from the date of the honeymoon. A short film will focus on the architectural aspects of the house and Palm Springs in general. A box lunch is available if requested and souveniers may be purchased. Visitors will be shown the famous "escape route" which left the press in front of the house speechless as the famous couple flew to Las Vegas to be married. Historic Inns

Nestled against the quiet hills and majestic mountains of Palm Springs is a group of inns, hotels, and bed & breakfasts, the likes of which cannot be found in any other destination in the world. The more than 24 historic inns of Palm Springs were host on Doris Day, Johnny Mathis, and Frank Sinatra. Today they retain their charm and their history as they remain the choice for visitors looking for world-class amenities with Old-World charm. Most are within walking distance of downtown Palm Springs and each offers the uniqueness of a fireplace or a private patio or perhaps an al fresco shower. No two are alike in their decor but all offer the best this desert paradise has to offer. Want to seem them all? Take a stroll down Bellardo and Cahuilla Avenues where the majority are located and check them out! Then plan on taking part in the annual Inn Walk the 2nd Thursday following Thanksgiving when the inns open their doors to the public. The Inn Walk begins at the Palm Springs Art Museum where guest pick up a map and a flashlight. A cup of hot cider, some homemade cookies, a group of carolers…each of the inns offers some holiday spirit and the only thing they ask in return is a toy for Toys for Tots.

Thorny Theatre

The Thorny Theater of Palm Springs is the Coachella Valley’s only theater specifically aimed at the gay and lesbian community. The theater, which gets its name from the thorny issues it deals with, is under the auspices of the Arch and Bruce Brown Foundation, which gives recognition and cash awards to writers who deal with the GLBT community in a positive way. The professionalism of it’s productions have made it one of the top theater companies in the area; In it’s very first season (06/07) it garnered 4 desert-wide theater awards including best dramatic production of the year, Best actress, best costumer and best original writing. This year’s season includes an all-male comedy based on the film Born Yesterday (retitled Porn Yesterday) and another inspired by the novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses called simply Dangerous. Our opening production is Sex Symbols a very-adults-only comedy about a soon to be famous actor and the interviewer who knows too many details of his cleverly concealed past. This will be followed by Caryl Churchill’s rowdy and raunchy comedy Cloud 9, a surrealistic comedy about family, sex, gender, power, more sex and Queen Victoria. Our fifth production is Frank Lee, My Dear, a frantic and funny farrago on Valium, Violence and Vapo-Rub. See www.ThornyTheater.com for details. Tickets are available at our box office at 2500 N.
